Reserve In Show

WELCOME  To " SATORI " Bull Terriers & Staffordshire Bull Terriers.  We are Lance & Gayle Stephenson from Queensland, Australia.

We would like to welcome you to our web site and to our Bull Terrier's. We have been showing and breeding pure bred dogs for over 36 years. We started showing with Afghans , and after 12 years we bought our first Bull Terrier . Although she was not a show quality bitch, we later bred from her and produced our first Bull Terrier champion, " Satori Under Rapz " , that was the beginning of the life time commitment and dedication that we now put into this wonderful but complex breed.

We live on a small acreage on the out skirts of Brisbane, we have fully set up kennels and day yards. Our puppies are born in the house, where we can supervise mum and babies on a constant basis, the puppies don't go to the puppy kennels until 4 - 5 weeks of age.

A few years after our first litter we knew we needed to go and find a suitable show dog, if we were to continue to show and breed.  This led us to buy a brindle & white male, " Vangelis Mo Joe " (Koby) he became a champion by 9 months of age and by 11 months he had won Reserve In Show at his first Bull Terrier Speciality show, one month later he had qualified for his R.O.M.

We then went on to import frozen semen from the states, from a lovely white dog, "Ch.Action The Phantom ". We were successful with the semen, producing a litter of 8 puppies, 6 dogs and 2 bitches to a 5 year old bitch. We campaigned a white male " Ch.Satori Phantom Chance ". (Lincon) he was a glorious mover and this you could not miss. He was Top Mover for 3 years, winner of the Qld All Breed point score for 3 years  he won 3 Best In Shows and 2 Reserve In Show at All Breeds with a entry of over 1400 dogs. He qualified for        " Qld Top Dog Of The Year " twice then finished his show career by winning Best In Group at the Queensland Royal Show with a Terrier entry of 2400. We still have enough of the 10 year old frozen semen to try on another bitch and this we will do once we feel we have a suitable bitch to use it on.

Later we purchased a 3-1/2  year old black brindle & white male from New Zealand. Thor " Ch.Raging Thunder " he was actually a English import by Ch Kilacabar Rolling Thunder  x  Flash Pirate. Although Thor was not shown in Australia, he was used extensively at stud in Queensland, some breeders using him 2 and 3 times. This not only produced new blood into the country ,but it gave a new direction to many breeders, many of which had no place to go with their breeding programs due to the hereditary disease problems that where effecting the Bully gene pool , Thor went on to sire 22 litters in 4 years .

Our aim is to breed healthy, sound and well tempered bull terrier's, we have several litter a year, and strive to keep the puppies that we believe to be the most promising for showing, this means at times keeping 2-3 puppies from each litter. As we cannot keep them all, we then place the rest into pet homes where they can be part of a family and give their owners pleasure and companionship.

Our breeding program is a joint effort, with Gayle rearing the puppies and keeping the kennels maintained, with Lance doing most of the showing and grooming. Our hobby takes us around Australia either showing the dogs or judging. And when warranted we fly our bitches interstate to the best stud dogs that we feel are suited to our bitches, expensive but necessary.

We are both A.N.K.C  Terrier judges & Gayle is also licensed to judge all Gundogs & Hounds. With the running of a breeding kennel, showing the dogs, rearing litters or travelling away on judging appointments, we find our lives are consumed by dogs, but we would have it no other way. This commitment we take very serious and we endeavour to do our best for the breed and their future.

We have added a Staffordshire Bull Terrier page, as we now show a young dog & bitch. We got our first Stafford in January 2007 and much is to learn,  we really love the temperament of the breed and the intelligence.
